RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

Owls hunt more by sound than by vision.  The scooped shape of their facial feathers acts like a satellite dish collecting sound ways.  In addition, the owl's ears are asymmetrical in placement - they're not right across from each other like most animals - they are offset a little.  This helps with determining the location of sounds.

The National Debt of the United States now exceeds $22 trillion.  What does that mean to me and you?  Nothing, right now!  To my children and my grandchildren, I'm sorry.

There are two agencies, worldwide, that control the code names given to airports.  ICAO is the UN group keeping the world of airports, airlines and airplanes in order.  IATA is a group doing the same thing for the sake of business.  For instance, IATA says the Greater Cincinnati airport is designated CVG for customer's use.  ICAO calls it KCVG for airline use.  It looks like most U.S. airports have the same call signs except with a K preceding the IATA designation - not so with airports in other countries.  For example, the IATA designator for Heathrow in London is LHR and the ICAO designator is EGLL.  There will be a quiz on this at the end of the semester.

Question:  Can you get a whey from milk?  Of curds you can. It moves as sloe as blackthorn.
