RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

THE WORD THIS WEEKEND

This weekend's Gospel reading is from John and I love it.  The Pharisees wanted to get rid of Jesus  (He was a thorn in their sides) and have him killed.  To do this, they were trying to catch him in some heresy or severe breaking of Jewish laws.  A group of them brought a woman to him who was caught in the act of adultery.  The law that Moses had given them called for such a person to be stoned to death.  They asked him what he had to say about it.  The great answer followed.  "Let the one of you without sin throw the first stone."  Ooops!  They all left.

Jesus told the woman that he did not condemn her but only what she did.  It ended with, "Go and sin no more."  It's that easy.

It's also easy to condemn others when you see they have done wrong.  Be very careful in doing that.  Catch you tongue and remember that only those without sin should cast a stone.  Be kind to the sinner - it is us.
