Television in Cincinnati.
WLW-T was the first. They set up an experimental station, W8XCT, on the 46th floor of the Carew Tower in 1946. In February 1948, they went live with WLW-T channel 4. It switched to channel 5 in 1952. Being pioneers in the industry, they chose WLW-T meaning World's Largest Wireless Television.
WKRC, began broadcasting on April 4, 1949. It chose it's call sign (by this time they all began with W) meaning Kodel Radio Corporation. It was originally on channel 11.
WCPO-T followed suit in 1949. WCPO chose it's call sign meaning Cincinnati POst - the newspaper with the same owner. It was originally on channel 7.
In 1954, WCET started broadcasting on the UHF band channel 48. Of course the call sign meant Cincinnati Educational Television.
WXIX was founded in 1968. It is located on the UHF band at channel 19. It's call sign, of course, is the Roman Numeral for 19 (XIX). It went with the FOX network when it began in 1986.
