On this date in 1932, the Dow Jones Industrial Averages (DJIA) reached its lowest point during the Great Depression. The number was $41.22. Forty-one dollars and twenty-two cents. Simply, the DJIA is the accumulated value of one share of each of 30 large industrial U.S. companies.
The averages were first published in the 1880's and the value was $62.76. There was a stock market panic in 1896 and the averages fell to $28.48.
Today, well as of the 4th of July, 2019, the value of the Dow Jones Industrials (DJIA) was $26,966.00. That's an all-time high.
The stock market is a wealth builder for the world. It can be fickle, so don't go overboard. But as you can see, stay with it long enough and you will be rich.
