On this date in 1920, the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution took effect. Women had the right to vote. (Give 'em an inch, ... )
I'm sure there is no connection, but I found that there is an international observance keyed to this date. The Sunday nearest to August 26 is always and officially around the world "Go Topless Day." I swear this is true.
I admit that, even though I was aware of the observance, I stayed home all day - topless, of course. It's all about gender equality, they say.
