THE VALUE OF THE DOLLAR

The US Dollar is a standard around the world.  Investors and money managers from all major markets keep their eye on the value of the US Dollar.  When things get edgy, investors are all likely to trade for US Dollars.  It's always a safe investment.

Inflation devalues the dollars in your pocket, your bank or under your mattress. Inflation has been very low here for an extended period of time.  That's a good thing for us old folks.

One warning!  You cannot tell if inflation is low by following professional golf.  The PGA is evidently in a world of it's own.

Sunday, past, the PGA Tour Championship was decided with the awarding of the FedEx Cup.  The winner this year was Irishman Rory McElroy.  As winner, he collected $15 million.  That's $5 million more than the 2018 winner received.  The number two finisher this year was awarded ONLY $5 million dollars - 3rd place gets $4 million, 4th place $3 million, etc.  The player that finished 150th gets $70,000.00.

Is this real money they're talking about?  The famous Jack Nicklaus played his entire career, had 73 tournament wins (more than anyone) and total winnings of  $5.7 million dollars.

"Mothers, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys." - - teach them to play golf.
