NATIONAL MONUMENTS

On September 24, 1906, President Theodore Roosevelt established the very first national monument in the United States.  It is in northeast Wyoming.  There, a solitary rock formation stands out high above the surrounding  prairie land.  Don't ask me how it got there.

It is a sacred place to the American Indian tribes which lived in or traveled across this part of the country.  It is commonly known as the "Devil's Tower" though some of the Native Americans call it the "Bear's Lodge" (Tepee).  In either case, it is a geologic marvel.  It is officially called the Devil's Tower National Monument.

It shoots 867 feet above it's surroundings. It is just one of those special sights, most of which dot our western landscape, which makes a person look in utter awe.  Think of it along with spacious skies, amber waves of grain and purple mountain majesties.

May God shed His grace on we.
