MIDWEEK PRAYER

Surprisingly, there are four verses to the patriotic American song, My Country Tis of Thee.  You don't get the whole idea of the song unless you see them all.  Most people my age know the first verse but few the next three.  Too bad.

The first three verses talk about our country and it's people.  The final brings it all together in what can only be called a prayer.  You know the tune.

Our father's God, to Thee,
Author of liberty,
To Thee we sing;
Long may our land be bright,
With freedom's holy light,
Protect us by they might,
Great God, our king.
