On this date in 1879, just 140 years ago today, Thomas Edison applied for a patent (one of several methods he was trying) for his design of a light bulb. That's not that long ago. Edison's most successful bulb lasted less than 15 hours and the filament was burnt up.
Electric home lighting reached 50% of U.S. homes by 1925 - - Only half of all homes had lighting by electric bulbs in 1925. Less than 100 years ago - after my parents were born. Golly Moses!
