RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

THE WORD THIS WEEKEND

At Catholic mass this weekend, the fourth and final Sunday in Advent, the word is 'listen'.

Isaiah tells us that God spoke to an ancient king who was loathe to ask anything more of God.  He was told him that a boy child would be born would be born to a virgin and he would be called Emanuel - which means "God is with us".

Paul speaks from Rome and tells his followers that God has sent Jesus the Christ and that it is their duty to spread that news.  God spoke to them through the prophets, like Isaiah above, and all should hear those words and believe.

Matthew, in his gospel, tells the short story of what happened leading up to the birth of Jesus with emphasis on his foster father, Joseph.  Joseph listened, and although it seemed outrageous, he listened and he did as he was told.

Listen, everyone!  This week we celebrate the birth of the child.  Listen and do what you must do.

Have a blessed week.
