Before WWII, lobster fishermen could hardly sell their catch to anyone other than the government.  Almost no one else wanted it.  Lobster was the primary food served in northeastern prisons.  Not until the 1950s did it become a popular meal for the masses.


While we're at it, lobsters come in all kinds of colors; red, blue, yellow, black, white and calico.  The rarest is the white:  one in 100-million.
