Okay, I'll start from Earth outward. Our closest neighbor in the sky is a moon we call The Moon. Confused? You see, significant hunks of matter which orbit planets or asteroids are called moons. They are natural satellites.
We've all sat and contemplated the Moon; mused about the Man in the Moon, wondered at it's power and effect on Earth. The next time you do that, think about the people living on other planets.
The poor people of Mercury and Venus have no moon. It's so hot there, they probably wouldn't want to sit about looking at moons anyway.
Mars has two moons. All the people living there probably have their favorite.
Jupiter has 79 moons. Yes, seventy-nine! How confusing would that be? The school kids must go crazy trying to remember all their names. If they were evenly dispersed, you could see forty moons on a clear night.
Saturn has 53 moons, Uranus has 27, and Neptune 14. Even the sometimes planet Pluto has at least five moons. In all, there are over 200 moons in our solar system. Wow!
I'm glad we have just one.
