RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

THE WORD THIS WEEKEND

At Catholic mass this weekend, you will hear readings from the Acts of the Apostles, a letter of Peter, and the Gospel of John all about the time not long after the resurrection of Jesus following his crucifixion.  These were written by three of the Apostles; Luke, Peter and John.  Pretty much they have one message.

Of course we have to live in Christ, but his death and eventual Ascension from our world has not left us without alone - without help - that his followers might dwindle, wither and die.  No, the Father will now send the Spirit to help us; to give us courage and strength to stay on the Way he laid out for us.  Though we should stray from his Way, the Spirit will provide what we need to return.

Pray to the Holy Spirit.  He is God - God's gift to us.

Come to me Holy Spirit
and in my heart take up thy rest.
Come with thy grace
and heavenly aid
to fill my hearts
which thou has made.
