THE WORD THIS WEEKEND

At Catholic mass this weekend, even though it is the 7th Sunday of Easter, you will probably be treated to the service commemorating the Lord Jesus' Ascension into Heaven.   The occasion when He, in human form, left the Earth.  In the time since his death on the cross, He had been further preparing his Apostles to take the word to the rest of the world.  Next Sunday we will celebrate Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit to confirm all that Jesus had taught and give strength to His followers.

It won't hurt to read the Gospel twice this week.  It is short and so sweet  From Matthew's writing:

The eleven disciples went to Galilee,
to the mountain to which Jesus had ordered them.
When they saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted.
Then Jesus approached and said to them,
“All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

AND BEHOLD, I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS!  Don't lose faith.  Everything will work out.
