TALL STORIES

I suppose I haven't written a tall story for a while.  It must be time.

Here goes:  The tallest man in the world was one Robert Wadlow. (At least, that's what is verifiable by  Guinness Book of World Records)  He grew to 8'11.1" in height.  His weight was 491 pounds but he wasn't fat.

He was born in Alton, Illinois in 1918.  He was a normal size at birth.  Unbeknownst to anyone, he had a tumor in his pituitary gland.  Yikes!

When he entered kindergarten he was 5'7" tall.  He was over 6' at age 8 and weighed 169 pounds.  He entered high school at 7'5" and graduated at 8"4".

Sadly, Robert Wadlow lived only to the age of 22 years.  It seems, he had been fitted with a pair of metal leg braces to assist him in walking.  The ill-fitting braces caused sores to develop on his feet.  The infection became septic and he didn't survive.

I'll not make any jokes about height.  As much as I'd would have liked to be taller, this was a severe burden for him.
