This is the fifth and last in a series about US Navy ships named after our city. In 2018, the Littoral Combat Ship LCS-20 was christened USS Cincinnati. It was commissioned in 2019 for duty with the Squadron One of the Pacific Fleet out of San Diego. She is still in service.
Her specialty is patrolling in shallow waters. She is a trimaran with aluminum hull powered by three GE gas turbines. Cincinnati is very fast and has a topside length of over 400 ft. She carries a crew of 9 officers and 41 enlisted. All littoral ships carry duty specific armament including guns and missile systems. Each is capable of carrying land vehicles and troops as necessary. Cincinnati also has a landing deck for helicopters.
