RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

THE WORD THIS WEEKEND

This week at Catholic mass you will hear about the commandments.  They are bought to us in simplest form.

First, from the old Book of Exodus, the admonition that we should all love our neighbor; treat them as we would be treated. And for this, God will judge us rightly.

Second, from Paul's letter to the Thessalonians, that we should love God and avoid all idols including those of the world.  And for this, Jesus will judge us rightly.

Lastly, from Matthew's Gospel, Jesus answers the query by a scholar of the "law" who asked "which commandment is the greatest?"  Jesus answered in essence, "There are only two commandments in the law; first: love God with all your heart, mind and soul - this is the greatest of the commandments; and the second is: love your neighbor as yourself.  All other commandments are based on these."

So, are these stories about the commandments, the law, or are they about 'love'?  Love conquers all.

Act out of love in all that you do and all is right.

Have a great weekend.  I love you.
