BENGAL MANIA

When I started this series on Bengal Mania, I had hoped we'd find some excitement along the way.  Now, I'm stuck for another seven weeks.  No matter, here goes.

As expected, the mean ol' Steelers pummeled our outmanned squad last Sunday.  Not one of the home towners looked real good except some linemen you never heard of a month ago - and, of course, Jessie Bates.  Bates is a shining star in a defensive backfield composed of players not ready for prime time.

This weekend, we're on the road against the Washington Football Team ( yep, that's their official name. They're as screwed up as the town in which they reside.).  They are 2-7, having only beaten the Eagles and the crippled Dallas Cowboys.

Washington's current claim to fame is their defensive end, edge rusher, former Ohio State standout Chase Young (#99).  They picked him # 2 in the draft just behind Joe Burrow.  Hope they don't meet until after the game.  Alex Smith is back from injury and will quarterback the Washingtons.

The Bengals are trying to get healthy but they're not quite there yet.  Hopefully, more starters will show up.  Our crew will wear their white jerseys again this week.  Washington is going to show up in throw back uniforms this week.

The betting people opened this week with the game as a 'pick-em' (no favorite) but it has been bet to Washington having a 1-1/2 point edge with the total score at 47.  Who knows???

Game time is 1 pm. Sunday.
