MIDWEEK PRAYER

David Adam was an English Anglican priest born and raised in far northern England near Scotland.  He successfully published books, art, prayers and meditations.   He was strongly influenced by the Celtic tradition.  So that you know what I mean, here are some samples you may recognize attributed to my favorite Celt, St. Patrick.

May the strength of God pilot us.
May the power of God preserve us.
May the wisdom of God instruct us.
May the hand of God protect us.

May Christ be with us.
May Christ be before us.
May Christ be behind us.
May Christ be in us.

So, from Reverend David Adam, I borrow this morning's prayer.

Circle me Lord,
keep protection near
and danger afar.

Circle me Lord,
keep hope within
and doubt without.

Circle me Lord,
keep light near
and darkness afar.

Circle me Lord,
keep peace within
and evil out.

Amen
