HAPPY TRAILS TO YOU

"Kentucky:  Home of beautiful horses and fast women!"  . . . and may I add, Bourbon.

You can say what you want about Kentucky, but you have to admit, they know and have made known their identity.  Good marketing people!!.

The Bourbon Trail brings visitors to the state even when the horses aren't running or being sold.  It is an 18-stop circuit of some of their most famous distilleries.  Each is open for a walk-through guided tour and tasting.

They are all located in the Lousiville-Elizabethtown-Lexington triangle for the most part.  Only O.Z.Tyler distillery in Owensboro and Town Branches' Dueling Barrels Distillery in Pikeville are far off the track.

Here are the rest of those participating:  Angel's Envy, Evan Williams, Jim Beam's Urban Stillhouse, Michter's Fort Nelson, Old Forester, Rabbit Hole and Stitzel-Weller distilleries are all in Louisville; Town Branch's Lexington Brewing and Distilling,  Wilderness Trail, Bulleit, Woodford Reserve, Wild Turkey, and Four Roses are in the Lexington area; Jim Beam's American Stillhouse, Bardstown, Lux Row, Heaven Hill, Maker's Mark, and Wilderness Trail are in the south-central area.

If you think 18 is a lot of distilleries for one little state, be aware that there may be three times that many actually in Kentucky - and that's not even counting all those in the hills and hollers of the rural south and eastern areas.

You can drive the trail - just don't drink and drive.
