This weekend at Catholic mass you will hear a familiar story from Mark's gospel about how Jesus ordered an unclean spirit from a man who came to see him in the synagogue. Knowing what we know today, that may have been a person with a severe mental disorder. In any case, he was cured. All the witnesses were impressed; the scribes and rabbis were jealous. This type of thing eventually led to Jesus being crucified.
An interesting thing is found in the reading from Paul's letter to the Corinthians. I'll quote; "An unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord. But a married man is anxious about the things of the world, how he may please his wife, and he is divided [between the Lord and the world] ." This is a positive vote by Saint Paul for the Church's insistence on only unmarried priests.
