SUPER BOWL LV

The Super Bowl is being held in Tampa this coming Sunday.  It's a big deal.  The pregame show is probably already on.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will play the Kansas City Chiefs for the NFL championship.  It will be the first time (this is Super Bowl number 55) in which one of the teams will play the game in their home stadium.  Actually, they didn't adopt the name Super Bowl until the 3rd championship game in 1969.

The two quarterbacks for these teams are famous in their own way.  Tom Brady leads the Bucs.  He will be 44 years old this year.  This is his 10th Super Bowl appearance.  That's a lot.  He has won six of them and was named MVP in four.  Besides that, the jerk married a super model.

The Chiefs' quarterback is Patrick Mahomes.  He will be 26 years old this year.  He was in kindergarten when Tom Brady won his first Super Bowl.  Last year, Pat was the league MVP,  won his first Super Bowl and was Super Bowl MVP.  Not a bad start.

Strangely enough, not an American Indian in Kansas City or anywhere else in the country has objected to the Chiefs being named after a tribe leader.  For that matter, not a single pirate has asked the Tampa team to change it's name, either.   You know, 'Buccaneers' is the most evil character used as a team name.  They were bad dudes.

Random thought:  Do they still teach Roman Numerals in school?  If they do, you can thank the NFL.

No other sporting event draws as much attention as this.  Let's hope it is a good game.
