RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

MIDWEEK PRAYER

 Psalms is one of the books of the Bible; both Jewish and Christian.  It is made up of 150 individual short chapters by various writers.  These writings are often put to music; they are surely prayers.

Like all of our prayers, some ask God for help, some are acts of faith and some are mostly in praise of God.  Keep in mind that they were written prior to the time when Jesus walked the earth. Here is my take-off of Psalm #5.  It was written by King David and can be our prayer today.

Listen to my words, Lord, consider my request.
Hear my cry for help, my King and my God; for to you I pray.
In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.
For you are not a God who is pleased with wickedness;
with you, no evil person is welcome without repentance.
The arrogant cannot stand in your presence;
you hate the evil we do, especially the lies we tell others and ourselves.

But I, a sinner, by your great mercy, can come into your house,
in reverence I bow down to you.
Lead me Lord in your righteousness;
make your way straight before me.
Let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them sing for joy.
Spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
Surely, Lord, you bless the righteous people;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield.
Let me be numbered among them.
