MIDWEEK PRAYER

Tomorrow we celebrate Holy Thursday; the occasion of the "Last Supper."  Like all good Jews, Jesus and his Apostles were celebrating the Passover on this day.  Today, I offer one of the simplest, most common of prayers.  Praying over your food is a good thing to do.  We should each recognize that one of the great gifts we have is the food we eat.  So many in our world do not have enough food to even sustain themselves.  Make this a habit; thank God you have food to eat.  Do it each meal.  Do it forever.  And, once in a while, remember Jesus last meal and the food He gave us for all time.

Bless us, Oh Lord, and these thy gifts
which we are about to receive from thy bounty.
through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
