The most expensive private family residence in the world is called Antilia.   It's not in a resort but the best neighborhood in Mumbai, India.  It was built and is owned by Mukesh Imbani, a billionaire Indian industrialist.  It is a 400,000 sq ft home on a relatively small footprint.  It stands 27 stories tall.  It's garage holds 168 cars; but many visit by helicopter - there are three helipads and an air traffic control tower.  It was built in 2012 and is valued somewhere between $1 and $3 billion.
