Today is the first Saturday in May; Derby Day. This weekend is the fifth Sunday of Easter. The readings at Catholic mass can be summed up in a line or two from each.
First reading is from the Acts of the Apostles. The gist is that the Apostles were at first leery of Paul because he was known to have participated in the persecution of Christians. After they were convinced he was okay, "The church throughout the [area] was at peace. It was being built up and walked in the fear of the Lord, and with the consolation of the Holy Spirit it grew in numbers."
Second reading is from John's letter. "Children, let us love not in word and speech, but in deed and truth." Then "Those who keep His commandments remain in Him, and He in them, and the way we know that He remains in us is from the Spirit He gave us."
Gospel reading is from John. Jesus was speaking to His disciples. "I am the true vine and my father is the vine grower." "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you. By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples."
With all this in mind, It might be a good idea to drop a couple of bucks on Sainthood at 50-1 in the Derby. Unless you have a Known Agenda, the Essential Quality that might Rock Your World is Bourbonic. Take a flyer on the Dynamic One.
