This weekend at Catholic mass in America we will celebrate the Feast of the Ascension. The Ascension is the occasion when Jesus Christ was taken up to Heaven. His humanness was gone as far as the people of that time could see.
We celebrate this knowing there is a greater meaning. It was not that Jesus left us. It was that He could go because He had left himself for everyone. If He were still a person, think how few would have been able to see him; to come in contact with Him. As a result, the occasion had a much deeper meaning and result. Jesus could leave because He had left himself for everyone to see and to contact. You see, here we are really celebrating the Eucharist; the communion with Him we all can experience. A person would be limited. The Eucharist is unlimited.
This is the bread of life. Experience it often. Be in communion with Jesus. That's all you need do.
