The word(s) at Catholic mass this weekend are spoken in Latin; "Corpus Christi" - translation: The Body of Christ. So, you ask, what's this all about? It's about the REAL PRESENCE. Ever hear of that?
It is a tenet of Christian faith that the bread and wine offered to God by a priest is in fact the body, blood, soul and divinity of Jesus Christ. In fact! Not just a representation. The real thing. At the last meal He shared with his Apostles, He said of the bread, "This is my body." and of the wine, "This is my blood". He followed that with "Do this in remembrance of me." Thus we have the mass and the eucharist.
This is the gift He gave to us all - himself. It is the way we can stay close to Him, commune with Him.
Stay close to Him.
Have a blessed weekend. I love you.
