The Adventure Cycling Association mapped out a bike trail across America as part of the 1976 celebration of our country's two hundredth birthday. It goes on mostly rural roads from Yorktown, Virginia to Astoria, Oregon. Some 4,000 cyclist traveled at least part of the route that year and about 2,000 completed the whole circuit.
Now, it began in 2013, there is a U.S. Bicycle Route 50. The Eastern section begins in Washington, D.C. and currently extends to Terra Haute, Indiana. There is a section out west that they hope to connect with some day. Signs have been posted along the route in Ohio which you may see: USBR50
Okay, who wants to take a ride?
