OLYMPICS

 Yes, the Olympics are in progress.  The location is Tokyo, Japan if you intend to go.  I wouldn't if I were you.  They won't let you in.  Pretty much everything indoors is going on without spectators.  That takes some of the excitement out of the process.

Technically, these are the "Summer Games of the XXXII Olympiad" which should have happened last year but didn't.  The logo for these games in "TOKYO 2020".   The Winter games will be played early next year in Beijing, China and the next Summer games will take place in Paris in 2024.  

There are a lot of new sports being played and more events in some existing sports.  Here is my list of new stuff:

Skateboarding

3 on 3 basketball

Softball

Surfing

Karate / Taekwondo

Badminton

Climbing 

BMX cycling

There may even be more.  

The one thing that really surprised me about this new stuff was that there is an 'n' in badminton that I didn't know was there.  Have I never typed or written this word before?  There is no 'goodminton'; I checked.  There even is no 'minton'.   The only mintons running around are bad ones.  Well, I guess there is nothing to do but get out there and shuttle your cock around.  That's a tuff game.  You have to score 21 and win by 2.  

Incidentally, the Russians were barred from this Olympics because of blatant cheating in the past.  Well, no one is there representing the country of Russia but their full team is there under the name of ROC (Russian Olympic Committee).  Evidently, someone winked and let them in representing a committee and not the country.  Yikes!  What a travesty.
