NUMBERS THAT MAKE YOU WONDER

According to the US National Institute of Mental Health statistics, these were the causes of death for people of all ages and, in rounded numbers, the totals for 2019.  These are the 10 leading causes of deaths in our country (before the pandemic).

Heart Disease  650,000
Cancer  600,000
Accident  173,000
Respiratory  160,000
Stroke  150,000
Alzheimer's  122,000
Diabetes  88,000
Kidney  52,000
Flu/Pneumonia  50,000
SUICIDE  48,000

Of course, the elderly are excessively involved in almost all of these statistics.

Now get this:  just over 38,000 people were killed by firearms;  but, of those, 24,000 used the firearm on  themselves.  They are more than half of that 48,000 SUICIDES.

One other note:  SUICIDE is not significant for those under 10 years old or over 65 years old but for people between the ages of 10 and 35, suicide is the second leading cause of death.

We need to work on this and stop spending so much time, energy and money on restricting firearms.
