The word at Catholic mass this weekend is "law". How do we approach the law? Do we differentiate between God's laws and human laws? Are you a proponent of natural law?
The first reading from Deuteronomy tells us that Moses warned the Israelites that they should obey the one who brought them to the 'promised land'.
In the New Testament reading, James advised his flock to do more than talk a good story; do a good story.
The Gospel from Mark tells of Jesus talking back to the Pharisees and Scribes. They had questioned Jesus about He and His people not following the letter of the Jewish laws. He called them hypocrites. He told them to stop worrying so much about those human laws; to concentrate on the big things. Do as God wants you to do AND do more. Just keeping the law is not enough. Do positive things for your fellow man.
Go do something positive today. It's the right thing to do. When you are done, you will feel better for it.
Have a great weekend.
I love you.
