Well, last weekend was good to Cincinnati; both the Bearcats and Bengals won. UC knocked off Notre Dame in South Bend before a raucous crowd which included my son and grandson. Our Bengals were led in a second half comeback by #9 Joey B; it ended with a last second field goal. by Evan McPherson.
This weekend the Bearcats play Temple University tonight at "the Nip". These cats are favored by a whopping 29-1/2 points. Take the Owls and the points albeit a comfortable UC win.
On Sunday, the Bengals have a stern test against a top echelon team in the Green Bay Packers and the best pure passer in the league; one Aaron Rogers. The home team might be playing without running back Joe Mixon but should regain wideout Tee Higgins and important defensive players Jessie Bates and Chidobe Awuzie.
The Packers are an explosive offensive team but a little suspect in the defensive backfield. They stumbled miserably in their first game this season but have pounded people since then to come here with the same record as the Bengals; 3-1.
The Vegas people have installed the Packers as a 3 point favorite while the total score of the game has risen from 48 to a whopping 50-1/2. If the score gets that high, the Bengals may be in trouble.
Have a great football weekend. Last weekend I went to a high school game on Friday night; Fenwick vs McNicholas. The football was not so good but the enthusiasm was fantastic. Great fun.
While I've got off into the high school level, you should have seen the Moeller vs Elder clash which was carried on local TV last week. The Crusaders were heavily favored at 'The Pit' but nothing matters when these two meet. I switched in several times during the high scoring affair. It was 21- all at the half. Regulation time ended with both teams at 52. In overtime, the Panthers blocked a Moeller extra point to win 59-58. It was a classic.
You gotta love football!
