THE WORD THIS WEEKEND

This weekend the word is 'wealth'.  All the readings at Catholic mass should bring you to one conclusion.  It is a simple lesson but one which some never understand and others forget as we live our human lives.  All human wealth is transitory - it goes away and moves on.  Wealth can be looks or money or possessions; all are temporary.  You can't take it with you.  No matter how important you think they are, wealth and the things of wealth will not get you to Heaven.   It is the one place you cannot buy your way into.

Not only are the wealthy unable to buy their way into heaven but it is even more difficult for them to attain eternal life than the common or poor.  The lesson is not that we should strive to be poor but that we should keep worldly wealth in proper perspective.  Wealth is not the be-all and end-all.  Far from it.  Nothing of this world will help us get to heaven.  Nothing we do can make us worthy of heaven.  Only God can do that.  Our Gospel ends, "For God, all things are possible."

Have a great weekend.  I love you.
