I find this interesting - thinking about where we are today and how we got here. This is my memory of the past and vision of the current future.
The American Revolutionary War was fought from 1775 to 1783. It was more than us (thirteen colonies) against the British who had claimed all this land. Here comes my first major thought.
The French provided us with supplies, arms and ammunition all during the war. Later in the war, they supplied troops and a fleet which transported our troops and repelled the British near Virginia and protected Washington and his troops.
With this in mind, it is apparent that ever since the end of World War II, the French have been the subject of American ridicule - this mostly stemming from their actions against the German invaders. A look at the broader picture of history, might temper those feelings.
I'll have more next week.
