This weekend at Catholic mass the words are coming and going. We are near the end of the church year, just one more week, and are approaching Advent; our preparation for Christmas - the coming of Christ. So the readings in the coming weeks are full of warnings that the end could be near but also joy that the coming of a savior is soon to happen. Both situations are ones we should be prepared for.
In our Old Testament reading, Daniel prophesies the end of times. He says that some will "shine brightly" and others will be "an everlasting disgrace." In the letter to the Hebrews, Paul warns that we should forget last minute offerings. Those who are saved, are saved by the blood of Christ. Only the death of Jesus allows for the forgiveness of sins. The Gospel reading is from Mark. Here Jesus is teaching that we need to be aware of the signs. The time of tribulation is real. We will know when our end comes and we had better be ready. Only God knows that time.
Have a great weekend! I love you.
