MIDWEEK PRAYER

 I'm told Robert Louis Stevenson wrote this.  Well, most of it.  I love to change improve the work of others.  

Loving Father, help us to contemplate the birth of Jesus,

that we may share in the song of the angels,

the gladness of the shepherds,

the worship of the Three Wise Men,

and the love of Mary and Joseph.

Close the door of hate and open the door of love all over the world today.

Let kindness come with every gift, 

and good desires with every greeting.

Deliver us from evil by the blessing which Christ brings,

and teach us to be merry with clear hearts.

May we be reminded on Christmas morning 

that we are your children

and Christmas evening 

bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts;

forgiving others 

and knowing we have been forgiven, for Jesus sake.
