The circumference of the Earth is about 25,000 miles. A 'league' was about 3-1/2 miles. The classic Jules Verne novel, 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, indicates a distance of about 70,000 miles measured on the floor of the ocean. A ship that traveled that far, probably circled the globe twice.
