A pleonasm is a redundancy - the use of unnecessary words duplicating a meaning.  In general, they are poor writing or speech.  But sometimes, they just sound right.   Here's a common example:  "I saw it with my own eyes."

The compass app on my iPhone tells me my current elevation above sea level.  Mine, at home, say 930ft.

Could that be right?  Sounds high to me.  What does yours say?
