While watching the Masters Tournament on Palm Sunday, I was reminded of this entry from last year. I like it - so I'll do it again.

A HELPING HAND
It may surprise you to know that almost all of the best pro golfers use a teacher/instructor. So much so that they pay their way to each tournament just to watch them, stand by while they are warming up and practicing. Yes, the guys making millions of dollars on a single tournament, pay a helper that reminds them how to play properly. Doesn't seem right, does it?
Of course, pro baseball players have batting and pitching coaches. Why do the people who are best in the world at their profession have to employ help? Why do they need eyes watching them and reminding them of the right way of doing what they get paid to do?
Tiger Woods would be a good golfer without his teacher, but he still pays one to help him. Joey Votto would still be a good hitter without a hitting coach, but they still pay a teacher to help him. It's all about getting to the very highest level. Pro athletes want to be the very best and to attain that goal they do what they think is necessary.
Oh, you're not a pro athlete? What is your goal? In what do you want to reach the highest level?
How about life? Do you want to get to the highest level?
I'm pretty sure you can get to heaven by just trying to be a good person. Pretty sure! The teacher/instructor in this quest is what we call religion. Don't ignore a helping hand. There will be a time when you need it.
