THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

I'm going to try to improve on the Ten Commandments today.  Just kidding.  I'm not changing a thing.  What God gave to Moses and Moses to all the Israelites still stands for us today.  There is some divergence in what is included in each commandment between religions but all agree on the gist of it.  Keeping in mind that Moses didn't speak a word of English nor did those who translated the writings we call Exodus,  I'm going to try to put a POSITIVE bent on the statutes.  You'll get the hang of it.

#1  I am the Lord your God, the only God.  You will treat no other, person or any thing, as your God.

#2  As your God, you will speak of me and use my name with the respect due your God.

#3  On one day per week, you will set aside your daily routine and honor me.  As I rested on the seventh day, so shall you.

#4  You will bring only honor, in what you say and what you do, to your earthly family, your father and forefathers.

#5  You will respect the life of every being that I create and dedicate yourself to preserving and nurturing it.

#6  You will respect the vows you and others take, especially the marriage vows, and resist the urges of the flesh.

#7  You will respect the property of others.

#8  You will speak only the truth as you know it.

#9  You will respect the vows others take, especially their marriage vows, and do nothing to weaken them.

#10 You will be satisfied with the blessings I give you and not seek more for your own sake.
