This weekend at Catholic mass you will hear a gospel reading written by John. It is legendary because a great line from it has stood the test of time; "Let the one among you who is without sin cast the first stone." Jesus challenged the scribes and Pharisees who wanted a woman, caught in the act of adultery, stoned according to Jewish law. They couldn't do it. Oh yes, we are all sinful to some degree. It is a lesson for us not to judge others.
There is another part to this that I think is important. After everyone had left except the woman, Jesus told her that he didn't condemn her for her sin. Jesus simply told her to go her way and to sin no more. This is the greater lesson; that God forgives. God is merciful. He knows we are weak. Never think that He would not forgive you your faults. He will! No matter how terrible. Forgiveness is yours if you resolve to avoid sin in the future.
Have a great weekend. I love you.
