RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

THE WORD THIS WEEKEND

This week at Catholic mass we have a reading from the last chapter in John's gospel.  It is another appearance of Jesus to some of his Apostles and disciples after his death on the cross.

Yes, it is another scene taking place at the sea.  It is notable that the Apostles evidently went back to their previous lives after Jesus death -  not having direction and wondering what they should do.

Jesus joined the fishermen by have breakfast of fish and bread on the shore.  During the conversations, Jesus gave Peter some indication that he was to serve God the rest of his life and that he would suffer a death similar to Jesus.  None of this was fully understood  -  the Spirit had not yet come upon them.

If you feel like you don't know where you're going, don't feel bad - so did the Apostles.  On the other hand, it is clear that Jesus wanted his followers to be fishermen for Him.  Never be afraid to say you are Christian.  It is what we are all called to be.

Have a great weekend.  I love you.
