SONDAY

Good Morning, Starshine.    This is the title and first line of a 1969 song by Oliver that was part of the score for the hit Broadway musical "Hair".  The lyrics go on; The Earth says, "Hello."  You twinkle above us, we twinkle below.  Another verse starts; Good Morning, Starshine.  There's love in your skies.  Reflecting the sunlight in my lovers eyes.

Here's why I bring this up:  we're all familiar with sunshine and one way or another, moonshine; why don't we talk about starshine?  (My spellcheck is advising me that starshine is not a word)  Are the stars so distant that they shed no light on our world?  I suppose they are.

Keep in mind that every (real) star is a "sun" for another galaxy.  The vastness of the universe is just astounding.  NASA actually has a new orbiting telescope now that is showing us new and further stars and their galaxies.  Is there no end to it?  How big is big?  Is it all for us?  Is it all ours?  Who would give such a gift?

You know.  Enjoy the Lord's day.
