RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

THE WORD THIS WEEKEND

Before I begin about the readings for this weekend, I want to tell you that today's liturgy (Saturday) is for the Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord - a great celebration of the Church.  It is helpful to be aware of the Church's whole calendar and what is being celebrated each day.  This coming week, for instance, the Church will celebrate the Feast of St. Lawrence and the Memorials of St. Dominic and St. Claire.  Do you know these saints; what they did and how they led their lives?

Sunday masses will include readings from The Book of Wisdom, The Letter to the Hebrews and the Gospel according to Luke.  The gist of the readings is a warning to be prepared.  We may know what is coming but we never know when.  We must be prepared at all times.  Live your life as if you were aware that the end was very near.

Think to yourself:  If you knew for sure that the end was near, what changes would you make?  Think to yourself:  If you knew for sure that the end was near, what would you start doing differently?   Think to yourself:  If you knew the end was near, what preparations would you make?

I hate to be the one to tell you:  The end may be near; nearer than you think.

Have a great weekend.  God bless you.  I love you!
