QUOTES

This week we'll take a look at the words of a famous scientist; a biochemist.  We don't think of him as a scientist but he really was.  His name is Isaac Asimov.  Yes, the author; the science fiction writer.  He was a Russian-born American citizen.  He taught at Boston University.  He was an avowed atheist and described himself as a realist.  He was raised by Jewish parents.  His words will be an insight into his nature.

"It's only afterwards that a new idea seems reasonable.  To begin with, it usually seems unreasonable."

"The dullness of fact is the mother of fiction."

"Predicting the future is a hopeless, thankless task, with ridicule to begin with, and all too often, scorn to end with."

"Science fiction writers foresee the inevitable, and although problems and catastrophes may be inevitable, solutions are not."

"I feel that the longest and worst punishment should be reserved for those who slandered God by inventing Hell."

"No matter how outrageous a lie may be, it will be accepted if stated loudly enough and often enough."

"The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom."

"All mankind, right down to those you most despise, are your neighbors."

"Ideas are cheap.  It's only what you do with them that counts."

"To succeed, planning alone is insufficient.  One must improvise, as well."
