Anyone interested where all the tax money goes? I'm talking about real taxes. Here is where West Chester township says my money went. Where you live could be similar. Some totals are surprising to me.
- 57% goes to our school district - that's over half. 50% went to general operations while the other 7% satisfied current bond issues and levies related to schools.
- 26% goes to our local government - the township for me. That is split between the police department getting 12% and fire department getting 11%. The other 3% is for general services like parks, planning, zoning and roads.
- 13% goes to the county. That is split up between many services the county undertakes like mental health, developmental disabilities, children's, seniors and more.
- 3% goes to the local vocational schools
- 1% goes to the parks
- 1% goes toward the library system.
