RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

THE WORD THIS WEEKEND

This Sunday the Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of Christ the King.  It is the last Sunday of the liturgical calendar.

That means we've again progressed from the birth of a poor child in a place where farm animals feed and avoid the weather to the celebration of royalty.  That's not the way the Hebrew people had pictured it happening.  They were a tribal people who had a long list of kings.  They were looking for a new king to lead them to freedom from the restrictions of the Roman Empire.

That whole story is about living for the present versus living for the future.  We have the same problem, today.  Do we make decisions based on today or tomorrow?  Pleasure is for today - joy is for tomorrow.

Joy came to the world when the child was born.  We will meet the king some day - why else would we be here?    Choose joy.

Have a blessed weekend.  I love you.
