In 1979, there were only 4 bald eagle nests in all of Ohio according to the annual count. This Spring, experts counted 806 - up from 707 two years ago. Our national bird is thriving. Ben Franklin would be smiling.

The Lipizzan or Lipizzaner breed of riding horse are not tall but are powerfully built. They are thought to be the oldest pure-bred horse in Europe. There is a famous traveling horse show that features them. Each one is born black or bay and every one of them turns white or gray at maturity. I was thinking when I read this that I, too, turned gray when I matured. But then, I thought, "No, I haven't really matured yet." MDR
