PRAYER

My writing may have changed in this blog over the years but not my devotion to prayer - talking to your God.  My big picture of the world is one made by a singular God.  In my quiet time, there is no one better to talk to.  I'm sure God listens - so many of my dreams have come true.

Praying makes you think; think about all the good that has come to you, all the things you worry about and all the sadness in the world (sadly, it's easier to recall the bad than it is the good of the world).  Kick back in your easy chair or on your porch or patio and put your feet up.  Here is simple song I've loved since I was a child.  My parents had a large hi-fi record player/radio combination which we used often.  One of the 33-1/3 rpm vinyl records was one by the Ink Spots.  The lyrics for the song are touching and, I always thought, unfinished.  They ask a good question. Someday, I'll write another verse for it.  For me, this is about personal prayer.

"When you come to the end of the day
and the night calls your worries away,
do you ever watch the setting sun
and dream of things that you might have done?

Do you turn from your work with a smile,
do you feel that it's all worth the while,
as you dream the twilight hours away
when you come to the end of the day?"

Without the solitude of personal prayer, you could avoid thinking these thoughts; about what you have done and have failed to do.  You would not be better for it.  It's good to look back, assess and resolve to go forward in a better way.

Take time today, clear your head, be a better person tomorrow.
